Strategic Goal #3: Develop New ACADEMIC Programs and Revitalize Existing Programs

Objective 1 - Create new programs in Welding Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Apple Coding, and Photography

2019:

Hired full-time faculty member to launch Welding program (Fall 2019)

The Law Enforcement department chair has begun developing a Paralegal program, and a core first year curriculum has been determined. Target launch date: Fall 2020.

Mobile App Development and Coding courses have been approved by Morton College and ICCB. The curriculum has been approved by the MC curriculum committee and is pending ICCB approval.

Coding program: targeted program launch of Spring 2020.

Fire Science revitalization and expansion with proposed Fire Science Academy in partnership with Triton and a Fire Science internship program. Plans being developed for dual credit program to recruit HS students.

The following programs are currently being explored: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); Medical Cannabis

2018:

A search is underway for a full time welding instructor. Funds have been allocated in the FY19 budget to construct a welding lab.

A prospectus for a culinary arts certificate program is completed and partners will be meeting in the fall semester to discuss next steps.

A second session of the an Apple Coding course is being offered in fall 2018.

A search is underway for a full-time network security instructor.

Objective 2 - Increase the number of online course offerings

Objective 3 - Obtain National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accreditation for music programs

Objective 4 - Create additional foreign language courses and programs

Objective 5 - Increase full-time faculty members

2019:

Three new full-time faculty members hired in the Arts and Sciences department for Psychology (1) and Biology (2).

2018:

Increased the number of new full time faculty hired by 11 for Fall 18. Searches for an additional 2 positions are currently active.
