Strategic Goal #4: Promote Economic and Community Vitality through Dynamic PARTNERSHIPS

Objective 1 - Create and expand seamless education experiences between K-12 and the College

2019:

Transitional math partnership agreement between Morton College and the J.S. Morton High School District 201

On a quarterly basis, Morton College hosts a math cooperation and articulation meeting among all district K-14 math departments. Conversations focus on professional development, pedagogy, and the seamless transition between students at each level in the district.

Expansion of Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment Math, now offers expanded dual credit opportunities (MAT 105, 110 and 141). 893 students in AY19, up from 109 in AY18.

The College has administered its first College Study Skills (Summer 2019).

2018:

Developed a Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit Policies and Plan document

Dual enrollment course offerings have been expanded.

The first cohort of high school students graduated from the CNA program in Spring 18.

Offering two new dual enrollment classes (MAT 203, 215). 12 students enrolled, offered for the first time in AY18.

Objective 2 - Cultivate and Develop a partnership with “One Million Degrees: The Community College Project”

2019:

Partnership with Illinois Equity in Attainment Initiative (ILEA). MC joined ILEA along with 25 other institutions with the goal of eliminating racial and socioeconomic achievement by 2025 and aggressively increasing completion rate on campus.

2018:

This has been replaced with a partnership with the Partnership for College Completion initiative.

Objective 3 - Expand workforce development partnerships

2019:

Affiliation Agreement between Morton College and El Valor Corporation for the Nursing Program

Affiliation Renewal Agreement between Morton College and RML Specialty Hospital for the Nursing Program

Multiple community engagement events: Women’s EmpowHERment Event, Hope Scholarship 5K, Hall of Fame, and Open House

2018:

An agreement was approved at the September Board of Trustees meeting between Morton College and Northern Equipment and Training, LLC to provide Forklift Training.

A Morton College chapter of Toastmasters was launched.

Objective 4 - Reach out to seniors within the community to engage them in lifelong learning opportunities

2019:

The new Fitness Center will provide additional outreach and program opportunities.

Objective 5 - Improve relationships with government leaders at local, state, and federal levels

2019:

In December 2019, Morton hosted a legislative forum with state legislators Hernandez, Landek, Zalewski, Villanueva, college attorney Michael Del Galdo, lobbyist Al Ronan and associates. Local officials invited and attended the College’s Hall of Fame event and fitness center dedication.

Close working relationship with Town of Cicero officials to clear Rocket Property of all remaining barriers to future development.

2018:

The chair of the Board of Trustees was recently appointed to serve as chairman of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association’s (ICCTA) West Suburban Region and in this role will serve on the Executive Committee of the ICCTA.
